Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a)
A
perfect example of Infallibility:
A brief study on the essence of human virtue.
A brief study by: Brother Ali Ja’afary Stump.
“In the Name of ALLAH, the Beneficent, the Merciful”.
1.
INTRODUCTION :
When I first decided to write a brief
study on a subject which would be related to Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra
(s-a), I also wanted to touch the subject in a very deep way even though
I wanted to keep it simple and in an article form (size). Naturally for
me when I review and think back at the terrible tragedy that took place
after our Holy Prophet Muhammad (saww) passed away and the ending period
of the life of his most beloved daughter the Mistress of all women Lady
Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a), I cry and realize how far the Islamic Ummah
drifted away from the fundamental message of Islam, to seek human
perfection through human virtue (goodness) and become one of the true
Pious. “Surely
the noblest amongst you in the sight of ALLAH, is the most God fearing
of you. ALLAH is the All-Knowing, the All-Aware”.
(The
Holy Qur’an 49 Al-Hujurat-13).
As Muslims, we all know (or at least we
should know) the purpose of our stay here in this transitory life is to
better ourselves and to try to achieve a perfect human behaviour, for
only by achieving this can the human being hope for an eternal life in
Paradise. We are truly the most blessed people on the planet, for ALLAH
(swt) sent to us absolutely all the blessings, information, tools and
guides to obtain this human perfection, while so many people in this
transient life have no idea why they are here, where they came from and
what they must do. Our Prophet (saww) with the Miracle of the Holy
Qur’an taught us exactly how to obtain this perfection and open our
hearts to salvation, felicities and eternal bliss.
Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) lived her entire life in perfect harmony
with this most prominent Message, she is one of the greatest examples of
Perfect Human Virtue. And she lost her life in such
a tragic way in one of the most savage incidents in Islamic history, at
the hands of men who had completely drifted away from the pure and true
message of Islam. They threw away their great blessing that ALLAH (swt)
so generously gave to them. (ALLAH (swt)
blessed us with ISLAM in order to reach the most highest of heights of
perfection and to achieve eternal happiness).
These men became like blood thirsty wolves, they ignored the
Command of ALLAH (swt), they secretly and tyrannically went against the
pledges they made to Amir al-Mu’minin Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a-s) the
divinely chosen successor of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saww). They
became victims of their own tyrannical self. We can say that Lady
Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) was the perfect example of Human Virtue, believer
and worshipper of ALLAH (swt), follower of the Holy Qur’an and the
Prophet Muhammad (saww). And those who oppressed her are ugly examples
of deviation of Human Virtue, enemies of the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet
Muhammad (saww), haters of Islam and of ALLAH Azz wa Jall. Let us now
look closer at Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra’s (s-a) very high and pure status.
2.
LADY FATIMAH AZ-ZAHRA (S-A) ACCORDING TO THE HOLY QUR’AN AND HADITH:
It is written in the Holy Qur’an about
Ahlul-Bayt (a-s):
“O people of the (prophet’s)
house! ALLAH intends but to remove all sorts of uncleanness and blemish
from you and to purify you with a thorough purification”.
(The
Holy Qur’an sura 33 Ahzaab- 33).
All commentators (exegesis) of the Holy
Qur’an agree what this verse is about: The Prophet Muhammad (saww) Ali
Ibn Abi Talib (a-s), Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) and their sons Hasan
(a-s) and Hussayn (a-s). This is an Announcement to the entire world,
about the purity and the infallibility of them. Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra
(a-s) has such a high position that if we take the time to look at only
some of them there will be no doubt to anyone that Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra
(s-a) is truly the mistress of all women of the world and Paradise, and
is of the most special and beloved creations of ALLAH (swt).
“Say: I do not ask of you any reward for
it but love for my near of kin; and whoever earns good, We give him more
of good therein; surely ALLAH is Forgiving, Grateful.
(The
Holy Qur’an 42 As-Shura: 23)
It is unanimous amongst all Exegesis of the Qur’an this Ayat is about
the love all believers must have for the Ahlul-Bayt (a-s) of the Holy
Prophet Muhammad (saww). Many Hadith about this Ayat can also be found
in many correct books of hadith, including the following non-Shia
sources: Ibn Hijr in: Al-Muhriqah, Sayuti in Al-Dur Al-Manthour, Abu
Nu’aym in Hilyat Al-Awlia, Hamwini Shafe’I in Al-Fara’ed.
The Prophet Muhammad (saww) said:
“Fatimah is a part
of me; whoever pleases her pleases me and whoever displeases her,
displeases me. She is dearer to me than all beings”.
(Al-Amaali,
Shaykh Al-Mufid (r-a): 13th Assembly, hadith # 2).
The Prophet Muhammad (saww) said:
“O Salman! Whoever
loves Fatimah, my daughter, will be in Heaven with me; and whoever
dislikes her, then that one will be in (Hell) Fire”.
(Fara’id-us-Samtayn,
vol2, p.67)
The
Prophet Muhammad (saww) said: “The best
women of paradise are: Khadija Bint Khowailid, Fatimah Bint Muhammad,
Asia Bint Muzahim (Pharaoh’s wife) and Maryam Bint Imran”.
(Musnad Ahmad vol 2 p.293)
The
Prophet Muhammad (saww) said:
“The best women of the world are four:
Maryam Bint Imran, Asia Bint Muzahim, Khadija Bint Khowailid and Fatimah
Bint Muhammad”.
(Musnad Ahmad vol 2 p. 293)
Aisha Bint Talha quoted Aisha as saying:
“I have not seen anyone more similar to the Messenger of ALLAH in
speech and dialogue than Fatimah. Whenever she entered the house, he
would greet her, kiss her hands and ask her to sit near him. Likewise,
when the Prophet entered the house, she would greet him, kiss his hands
and ask him to sit near her”.
The Prophet Muhammad (saww) said:
“As for my daughter Fatimah, she is the mistress of all women; from the
beginning of history until the end. She is part of me; she is the light
of my eye and the fruit of my heart. Fatimah is my spirit which I hold
in me; she is a human huri. Whenever she keeps up prayers in her Mehrab
before her LORD, her light illuminates the angels in the Heaven just as
a star shines to mankind on Earth. So ALLAH, Exalted is HIS name, says
to the angels:
‘My angels, look at my servant, Fatimah, who is the mistress of all my
female servants, keeping up prayers before ME. Her limbs shake from fear
of ME and she worships ME wholeheartedly. Bear witness that I have
safeguarded her Shiites (followers) from Hellfire…’”
(Bihar Al-Anwar vol.10)
Imam Hasan (a-s) said:
“Once,
on a Friday night, I watched my mother, Fatimah, pray all night long.
She kept making ruku’ and prostrating until dawn. I heard her supplicate
for the believers by name; but she did not supplicate for herself, so I
asked: ‘Mother, why don’t you supplicate for yourself as you supplicate
for others?’
She answered:
‘Son! Prefer your neighbour over yourself.’”
(Bihar Al-Anwar vol 10)
We can now understand the very special
place Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) has, not only for the women, but for
all human beings. Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) is truly a most perfect
example of ethics and human virtue. Let us now take a closer look at
Human Virtue.
3.
THE GUIDES FOR HUMANITY:
Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) said:
“My father the Prophet Muhammad (saww) stood up with his guidance among
the people. And saved them from perversion and aberration, and turned
their blindness into enlightenment and guided them towards the firm
religion. And invited them to the straight path”.
(Ayan u Shia Ataba Al-Jadeed vol 1, p.316)
The human being is one being; that contains the physical body, the
animal self and the human self. The purpose of this short transient life
is to perfect and to give major control of our destiny to the human self
(the spirit). The human being on his own cannot find ways to achieve
this goal; he does not possess this capacity on his own. Without any
guidance, he drifts away from his human spirit and becomes absorbed by
his animal self (desires). He then lives only for his desires and
material needs and looses his intellectual capacities, he then becomes
overpowered by his tyrannical self. He then becomes lower than
animals, for he originally had the capacities to perfect himself, but
because of his own ignorance he failed to do so. When man looses contact
with his human soul he goes head on to a disastrous collision which will
bring him nothing but sorrow and regret. He loses his only chance to
reach human perfection and entrance into the Paradise in the eternal
life after death takes him away from this short transitory life.
ALLAH (swt) says:
“Truly
ALLAH was gracious to the believers when HE raised up among them a
Messenger from themselves, to recite to them HIS signs and to purify
them, and to teach them the Book and the Wisdom, though before they were
in manifest error”.
(The Holy Qur’an 3 Al-Imran 164)
We can fully understand that humans need special guidance in order to
reach their true potential towards human perfection. That is why ALLAH
(swt) sent to us the Prophets (a-s), in order that we may be guided and
made to understand the true reason of our creation. The human soul is
our essence and it is very complex that is why we need guidance from
Infallible Prophets and Infallible Imams (a-s) who have the celestial
knowledge to lead and guide us on the right path. For ALLAH (swt)
created the human being with the only intention that humans strive to
educate their inner human souls, by pure and truthful teachings, in
order to obtain human perfection. This is why man was not created like
the other creations; humans have a celestial spirit that differentiates
them from all other creation. ALLAH Azz wa Jall gave to human beings
this capability to perfect themselves for this transitory life and even
more importantly the eternal life to come. The Prophets (a-s) and in
particular our most beloved Prophet Muhammad (saww) along with the 12
Infallible Imams (a-s) who have given to us many specific hadith on this
most important subject. In fact their exact purpose and mission is to
guide mankind to perfection, which is the only path to salvation. Only
they (a-s) by the Power of ALLAH (swt) can truly show to mankind this
esoteric truth.
The Prophet Muhammad (saww) said:
“I emphasize the importance of good morals for you because the Almighty
ALLAH has sent me especially for this purpose”.
(Bihar al-Anwar, vol 69, p.357)
The Prophet Muhammad (saww) said:
“I was appointed for the Prophethood so that I may accomplish the
important task of moral perfection within human souls”.
(Al-Mustadrak, vol 2 p.282)
The Prophet Muhammad (saww) said:
“My Ummah will enter into Paradise mostly on the basis of piety and
excellent moral conduct”.
(Al-Kafi vol 2 p.100)
Now that we understand more what our mission is here in this transient
life and that we absolutely need guides that are infallible in all ways
possible. We must now take a closer look at what exactly is the human
self.
4.
UNDERSTANDING THE HUMAN BEING:
Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) said:
“O ALLAH! Belittle me in my eyes and glorify and magnify your station to
me. And inspire me about YOUR obedience and the practice which may cause
YOUR pleasure and the shunning and evading from matters which are the
cause of YOUR wrath, O the MOST MERCIFUL of all!”
(Ayan u Shia Ataba Al-Jadeed vol1, p. 323)
Contained in the human being’s physical shell (the Body) is his true
essence, this is what is called his Self, which, as we noted earlier is
both the animal self (man’s desires) and the human self (man’s spirit).
Let us look closer at these two attributes of the human being.
ANIMAL SELF (DESIRES):
Since ALLAH (swt) created the human being with a physical body, which
like all living beings, has physical needs in order to keep it alive,
healthy (physically) and comfortable. The Human being has needs like; to
eat, to drink, to sleep, to reproduce, etc… What we call here as the
human’s animal self is necessary for his physical survival, as
well it is our vehicle to gather, seek, store and achieve our human
perfection. However, when man concentrates all his attention to his
animal self (desires) and begins to loose touch with his spirit, he
transforms himself into the worst possible being. We then call this
state the tyrannical self. In this tyrannical self, the
human being looses all possibility of self purification of his heart and
he becomes worst than any beast, his desires take over his soul, he then
open’s himself to Shaïton who enters his soul and destroys all
possibility for this human being to develop and perfect himself, in
order to become closer to his creator and to receive salvation on the
Day of Judgement. The Human being who lives only by his tyrannical
self becomes filled with: arrogance, ignorance, impatience, conceit,
wickedness, bad manners, evilness, anger, hate, ferocity, violence,
backbiting, and many other bad conducts. The human being is in constant
attack by his tyrannical self and shaїton
wants nothing more for the tyrannical self to corrupt the heart
(soul) and to distance the victim from ALLAH (swt) and his only chance
for salvation, since only with a pure and pious heart is salvation
possible. Therefore the biggest
and most dangerous enemy to the human being is his
TYRANNICAL SELF.
ALLAH Azz wa Jall says:
“But as
for him who feared the Station of his LORD and forbade his soul from
lust. Surely Paradise shall be the refuge”.
(The Holy Qur’an 79 An-Nazi‘ate 40-41)
The Prophet Muhammad (saww) said:
“Your greatest enemy is your self who is located between your two
sides”.
(Bihar al-anwar, vol. 70, p. 64)
Amir al-Mu’minin Imam Ali (a-s) said:
“Self commands you continuously to indulge into evil deeds; therefore,
whoever trusted his self will have it deceive him, whoever believed it
will have it destroy him; and whoever is satisfied with it will have it
lead him to face the worst kinds of disasters”.
(Ghurar al-Hikam, p. 226)
HUMAN SELF (THE SPIRIT):
Besides the human being’s animal self, he also has contained within
himself a celestial gift from ALLAH (swt) that we have called here the
human self (the spirit), which is the blessed attribute that differences
him from all other creations. The spirit of man is the great celestial
gift that ALLAH (swt) provided to man, in order to advance and perfect
himself. With this gift and the guidance of the Prophets and pure
infallibles (a-s), the human being has the greatest blessing from ALLAH
Azz wa Jall to achieve bliss and true happiness in the hereafter.
ALLAH (swt) says:
“So when I have made him and have breathed
into him of MY Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves to him”.
(The Holy Qur’an 15 Al-Hijr 29)
This Spirit for which ALLAH (swt) has so generously and mercifully
gifted to the human being is his essence and his only straight path to
salvation; it is his greatest weapon against an eternity of pain and
sorrow. The only chance man has to achieve eternal happiness is to die
with a pure and truthful heart
(this is one of the many great essences and characteristics of Fatimah
Az-Zahra (s-a)),
free of the filthy pollution from corruption and bad manners. Ethics and
piety are two necessities for the human heart (soul) to have, in order
to obtain this very high station of intellectual, religious, spiritual
purity. The human being must in order to achieve such a high position,
question himself everyday and seek the divine knowledge sent down by
ALLAH Azz wa JALL and propagated by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saww) and
his pure and infallible Ahlul-Bayt (a-s). The human being was created
exactly for this purpose. About the human self and his heart (soul) we
find the following hadiths and Qur’anic verses:
“Say: Surely my worship and my sacrifice and my life and my death are
all for ALLAH, the LORD of the worlds”.
(The Holy Qur’an 6 An-An‘am 162)
“And the soul and HIM who made it perfect, then HE inspired it to
understand what is right and what is wrong for it; He will indeed be
successful who purifies it, and he will indeed fail who corrupts it”.
(The Holy Qur’an 91 Al-Shams 7-10)
Imam Ali (a-s) said:
“One’s self (spirit) is like a precious jewel, whoever strives for his
protection, it will help him attaining exalted positions and whoever
acts negligently in his protection, it shall pull him towards
humiliation”.
(Ghurar al-Hikam p.226)
Amir al-Mu’minin Imam Ali (a-s) said:
“Whoever succeeds in recognizing his self
will have his affairs improved”.
(Ghurar al-Hikam p. 628)
Imam As-Sadiq (a-s) said:
“The heart (the soul) is the sanctuary of ALLAH (swt), therefore, does
not settle therein anything but ALLAH (swt)”.
(Bihar-ul-Anwar
vol 70, p.25)
THE GREATER JIHAD:
Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) said:
“ALLAH
(swt) made the Jihad, the honour and glory for Islam”.
(Ayan u Shia Ataba al-Jadeed, vol 1, p.316)
Before we return to our main subject, let’s quickly look at the extreme
importance of the greater Jihad to stop and destroy our tyrannical
self from taking over our soul and opening our essence and soul to
the accursed Shaïton. For we cannot put enough emphasis on this point,
for the point of our creation was exactly for the purpose of human
perfection, to purify our souls from filth and corruption, and to move
forth with a pure heart on the Straight Path that leads to salvation and
bliss close to our CREATOR ALLAH (swt). It is no secret, ALLAH (swt) has
made it very clear to all humanity, that the only ways to achieve true
human virtue, is by turning to worship of HIM, avoiding
sins, develop our spirit and it’s knowledge, doing good and forbidding
the bad, follow the perfect laws of Islam (the Holy Qur’an and the
sunnah of the Prophet (saww)), to follow the Prophet Muhammad (saww) and
his pure and Infallible Ahlul-Bayt and to make Jihad against our
tyrannical self (desires). We must be continually questioning ourselves,
analysing our own behaviour and truly putting our beliefs to practice,
then and only then we Insha’ALLAH will become one of the Pious.
Amir al-Mu’minin Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib
(a-s) said:
“The
best jihad is the struggle against one’s self that is between his two
sides”
(Ghurar al-Hikam, vol. 11, p. 124)
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (saww) said to his soldiers returning from the
battle front:
“Welcome to those who have successfully completed the Minor Jihad, but
they have yet to engage themselves into the Greater Jihad”.
They asked him: “What is the Greater Jihad?”
The
Holy Prophet (saww) replied:
“It is the Jihad against the self”.
(Wasa’il al-Shi’ah, vol. 2, p. 124)
Imam Al-Hussayn (a-s) said:
“One of the two obligatory jihads is self-control against committing
acts of disobedience to ALLAH (swt)”.
(Tuhaf-al-Uquul, eng-tran: Maxims of Imam Al-Hussayn (a-s): Forms of
Jihad, p. 284)
5.
LADY FATIMAH AZ-ZAHRA (S-A) THE PURE EXAMPLE OF HUMAN VIRTUE:
THE DAY SOME OF THE UMMAH DESICRATED ISLAM AND THEIR ‘HUMAN SELF’:
Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) said:
“Many misfortunes were poured on me. If they were poured on days, they
would turn into darkest nights. I had been merry under the shade of
Muhammad (saww). He was my happiness, with whom I did not fear any
wrong. But today I submit to the villain. And try to defend myself
against my oppressors with my garment”.
(Fadak fil-Tarikh. Shaheed Sayiid Muhammad Baqir As-Sadr (r-a))
As an example for all humankind, the heart rendering story of the last
months of the life of Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) is one of the saddest
examples of how men lost themselves to their shameful, arrogant and
ignorant tyrannical self, and how even up to her last breaths this
marvellous and magnificent Lady was the most purest and truthful
examples of the highest form of piety and human virtue. If anyone in
ignorance may not know of Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra’s (s-a) absolute
infallibility, then surely this story will prove to all this very point.
For today my brothers and sisters, we are speaking of truth; we are
speaking of one of the purest fundamental realities of the creation of
all humankind. ALLAH (swt) created us out of such Mercy and Generosity,
which the true plan of the human being’s existence is to leave this
transient life full of knowledge of the heart and piety, to enter the
Paradise as our abode forever and this is the greatest gift and blessing
that the human being can ever possibly pray for. Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a)
is indeed an exact portrait for all humankind to understand and to
follow, for she (s-a) is an exact example of pure human virtue.
We must question without any hesitation why the Islamic Ummah,
immediately during the fatal illness of our most beloved Prophet
Muhammad (saww) and at the time of his leaving this transient life,
stopped being followers of ALLAH, stop being followers of Islam, and
chose their tyrannical self over the Path to Perfection. As
mentioned above, certain men of material power and position over others
forced themselves on the Islamic Ummah, through force and bribery, in
order to take position as the leaders of the Muslims. Ignoring ALLAH’s
(swt) command, which the Prophet (saww) announced on numeral occasions
to the Islamic Ummah, that Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a-s) was the only divinely
chosen one to lead the Islamic Ummah. At Ghadir Khumm, right after the
Farewell Hajj, the Prophet Muhammad (saww) said:
“ALLAH, the Exalted and the Sublime, is my Master and I am the master of
every believer”.
Having said so, he took Ali’s (a-s) hand and said:
“To whomsoever I have been a master, this Ali is his master. O ALLAH!
Befriend whosoever befriends Ali, and be the enemy of whosoever opposes
him, etc”.
(Kanzul-Ummal, Vol. 1, p. 44. / Al-Muraja’at Letters 7 and 8. by: Sayyid
Abdul-Hussayn Sharafud-Din al-Musawi. (r-a))
There are just too many such Hadiths to review them here and I don’t
want to distance ourselves from the subject at hand. However, we now
understand that certain personalities turned away from the pledge they
made to Imam Ali (a-s) on the day of Ghadir Khumm, on that day it is
recorded in all the history books and by very correct sources of Hadith,
that both Abu Bakr and Umar were amongst the first to make the pledge to
Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a-s), calling Imam Ali (a-s), by the title ‘Amir al
Mu’minin. Surely shortly after this time, certain of them began to
conspire, plot, scheme and devise. And at that very moment they became
corrupted and contaminated by their Tyrannical Self. We
can now without any prejudice, claim that at that moment, these men lost
Islam, turned away from the One God ALLAH (swt), gave up on their Jihad
against their Tyrannical self and threw away their Spiritual
development and all chances to be saved from the hell fire on the Day of
regret (Judgement). Surely any truthful people who had sincerely
followed the Message of Islam and developed their Human Self,
who had the blessing of living in the times of the Holy Prophet of Islam
(saww) and even claimed to be his (saww) companions, could have never
desecrated Islam in such a hypocritical way.
When people swore allegiance to Abu Bakr, Lady Fatimah (a-s) the
daughter of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saww) came to the door of her
house and said:
“Never have I witnessed a day like this. They have indeed, set a worst
record. They left their Prophet (saww), with his corpse in our midst and
preoccupied themselves with the matter of succession without us”.
(Al-Amaali Shaykh al-Mufid (r-a): 11TH Assembly Hadith # 5).
THE REPRESSION AND DEPRAVATION AGAINST LADY FATIMAH AZ-ZAHRA (SA):
After the Ummah pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr, he and his supporters
decided to totally put aside the Message of Islam and the quest to human
perfection that our most beloved Prophet Muhammad (saww) had worked so
hard to teach the whole world. Instead they decided to choose the path
of material power and abusive position over the Ummah. Thinking only of
their animal self, they kept feeding it until it was an overbearing
beast totally out of control. They then decided to oppress and deprive
the Holy Prophets (saww) Ahlul–Bayt (a-s) who were the last
representatives of the true Islam, they were the straight way to
human perfection and human virtue and they were the ones who had the
true knowledge of the Holy Qur’an. In other words, the Ahlul-bayt (a-s)
are the biggest enemies of the Tyrannical Self and his companion Shaïton.
After the fact that these men stole away the divinely commanded
successor ship of the Holy Prophet (saww), they decided to go against
Islamic Law and embezzle the Holy Prophet’s (saww) inheritance that he
(saww) left behind to his Ahlul-Bayt (a-s). These men did not only live
for their tyrannical self but also became tyrants over the true
believers, those who had chosen the true Islam and searched for human
perfection through their human self (spirit) were mocked and bullied.
When these men unanimously decided to deprive Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra
(s-a) from Fadak and she lost all hope about any reconsideration, she
(s-a) came to the grave of her father, threw herself upon it, grievously
complained about how these men treated her. And she wept, till the earth
on the grave became wet with her tears, and she said:
“There have been after you news and incidents were you witness them, you
would have disapproved them; We have missed you, the way a parched land
misses the rainfall, your people are in total disarray, see how they
have reneged. Jibraeel used to endear us with the verses of the Qur’an
but after you have hid from us, all good is also concealed; you were the
moon, from whose light people benefited, and upon you was revealed the
book-from the LORD Almighty. Men have attacked us and humiliated us,
after the Prophet, and all wealth has been usurped; the perpetrator of
injustices to us will know his fate on the day of Judgement, where he
will finally land. We have come across things which no one before us,
neither from Arabs nor from the Ajam have suffered; so, we shall
continue weeping over you as long as we live and as long as we have eyes
which well up with flowing tears”.
(Al-Amaali Shaykh al-Mufid (r-a): 5th Assembly, Hadith # 9)
The Prophet Muhammad (saww) said:
“Surely, ALLAH (swt) is displeased when Fatimah (s-a) is displeased, and
HE is pleased when she displays her pleasure”.
(Al-Amaali 11th Assembly, Hadith # 4).
THE TERRIBLE TRAGEDY OF LADY FATIMAH AZ-ZAHRA (S-A):
Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) said:
“ALLAH (swt) fixed the reward for HIS obedience and disobedience, so
that HE may restrain HIS servants from his wrath, fury and lead them to
HIS Paradise”.
(Ayan U Shia Ataba al-Jadeeda,
vol, p. 316)
In order to force Imam Ali (a-s) to pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr, Umar
and a large group of people rushed to Lady Fatimah’s (s-a) house, Umar
told the people to collect wood, he then set the wood around the house
were Imam Ali (a-s) , Lady Fatimah (s-a) and their two sons Hasan and
Hussayn were gathered inside. He then yelled out: “By ALLAH, O Ali
come out and pay allegiance to the Caliph of the Prophet of ALLAH,
otherwise we will burn down your house”. Lady Fatimah (s-a)
said:
“O Umar
are you not afraid of ALLAH (swt) and are you entering our house?”
Umar
asked for fire to be brought and set the door on fire, and then he
shoved it open and forced his way in. Lady Fatimah (s-a) screamed:
“O
Father, O Prophet of ALLAH”.
Umar
who acted like a ferocious mad dog hit Lady Fatimah (s-a) with a shield
on her side, she screamed:
“O
Father!”
Then
in vicious brutality he lifted his whip and hit her on the hand, she
cried:
“O
Prophet of ALLAH, Abu Bakr and Umar behaved very badly after you, while
your eyes have not even closed in the grave!”
Imam
Ali (a-s) rushed and threw Umar on the ground, he was then above him and
was ready to kill him, when he remembered his promise to the Holy
Prophet (saww), he then said
“O son
of Sahhak,
had the Holy Qur’an not been revealed and the Holy Prophet (saww) not
taken a promise from me before, you could have never entered my house!”
(this is a great proof of the Infallible Human Virtue of Lady Fatimah
Az-Zahra (s-a) and Imam Ali (a-s) as true carriers and defenders of the
true Islam, even when on top of Umar and ready to kill him easily, Imam
Ali showed patience and incredible human virtue in the name of the Holy
Qur’an and the Message of True Islam, compared with Umar and his gang,
who lead by their tyrannical selves acted as wild, savage animals
starved for blood).
Qunfuz (the Cursed) arrived there with a
large gang of people, when Imam Ali (a-s) saw them arriving he went to
pick up his sword, but by large numbers they overpowered him, arrested
him and tied a rope around his neck
(a practice that was forbidden during the lifetime of the Prophet
Muhammad (saww), even against the worst enemies of Islam during time of
war),
Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra came between the people and Imam Ali (a-s), so
Qunfuz (may ALLAH curse him and those who sent him there) hit her with
his whip savagely and the mark was still on the shoulder of Lady Fatimah
(s-a) when she passed away. What kind of a savage animal would ever
strike the most loved daughter of the Holy Prophet (saww), the one that
he had declared to the entire world as:
“Fatimah is a part of me; whoever pleases her pleases me and whoever
displeases her, displeases me. She is dearer to me than all beings”.
(Al-Amaali,
Shaykh Al-Mufid (r-a): 13th Assembly, hadith # 2).
Salman Farsi (r-a) reported:
“Qunfuz,
the cursed, forced Fatimah (s-a) to take refuge behind the door and he
pushed the door so her rib near the side got broken and she had a
miscarriage. So she was continuously ill until she attained martyrdom in
this”.
(Kitab
Sulaym ibn Qays Al-Hilali,
Hadith # 4)
O
brothers and sisters! How can any decent human being read such reports
and not cry and be affected deeply in all the ways possible?
I ask all the intelligent and knowledgeable people to reflect deeply on
our subject in this study. How can any of us call these men who went
against Imam Ali (a-s) and Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) Muslims?
They who chose to do such atrocities to the Infallible Ahlul-Bayt (a-s)
cannot in any way be Muslims, while submitting to their tyrannical
self. The Ahlul-Bayt (a-s) are without any doubt the greatest
examples of true Islam and Human Self Perfection.
Some reporters say that when the body of Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra (s-a) was
lowered into the grave by Imam Ali (a-s), in the grave appeared the two
hands of the Holy Prophet (saww), with a voice addressing Ali (a-s):
“Come
on! Ali! Return thou the part of mine, to me”.
Imam
Ali (a-s) shedding tears profusely and weeping replied to the voice: “I
am ashamed of thee O’ Apostle of ALLAH, for I took Fatimah from thee
sound in her body but I am now returning her unto thee rib-broken”.
