AZ-ZINAA (FORNICATION/ADULTERY) -
PART 4
We
are discussing the rules of precaution from Zinaa. The three
rules discussed in the previous Friday Learning Zones were:
-
Do not even go near to what will lead
you to Zinaa. Lower your gazes from forbidden things.
-
Do not be alone in the company of Non-Mahram.
-
Muslim women must observe Hijaab.
RULE NO.4
When one attains puberty, one should get
married.
Nikaah
or marriage by itself is a highly
recommended act in Islam but may become obligatory if, by abstaining
from it, will lead one to a Haraam act such as Zinaa.
It
should be borne that Islam recognizes the sexual needs of human beings
and believes that the natural instincts should be nurtured and not
suppressed. It is for this reason that Islam forbids Celibacy and
Monasticism and encourages Marriage.
A
woman came to Imam Ali ar-Ridha (as) and said:”O Maula! I am
undergoing self-denial”. Imam (as) asked,”What
is this self-denial?” She said, “I have decided never to
get married in life”. Imam (as) asked her,”Why?”
She replied, “By not marrying I desire distinction in the sight of
Allah”. When the Imam (as) heard this, he became furious and said,
“Get away from my
sight! If one could acquire distinction by not marrying then my
grandmother Fatimah would have deserved this distinction too, more than
anybody else. For verily no one can surpass her in merits”.
There are several verses from the Holy Quran and prophetic traditions in
which importance of marriage has been stressed upon.
“And among His signs is that He created for you from yourselves spouses
so that you find comfort with them. And He instilled love and compassion
between you. Verily in this, there are signs for people who reflect”.
(30:21)
“And marry those among you who are single and those who are fit among
your male slaves and your female slaves. If they are poor, Allah will
make them self-sufficient by His grace”.
(24:32)
The Holy Prophet (saw) has said:
“No house has been built in
Islam (which is) more beloved in the sight of Allah than (the house
built) through marriage”
He
(saw) has also said:
“Nikaah is my tradition.
Therefore whoever forsakes my tradition then he is not from me”.
There is no doubt that Marriage saves one from committing Zinaa
for such a person now has a spouse with whom the natural sexual urge can
be lawfully satisfied. As for one, who has attained marriagable age and
shuns Nikaah, is certainly not a saint. Infact, such a person is an easy
target for Iblees who can be lured into all sorts of haraam acts.
It
is for this reason that the Holy Prophet (saw) said:
“The worst of all people are the unmarried ones”.
It
is also reported from him (saw):
“When a young man gets
married in the early days of his youth, Shaytan cries out loudly: Woe
unto me! He has protected his religion from me”.
Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (as) has said:
“Whoever gets
married has protected half of his religion. For the (the protection of
the) other half he should fear Allah”.s
