The knowledgeable scholar, Aba al-Fath ibn Makhdam al-`Arbashahi, has said the following in Chapter 11 of his Sharh while discussing the caliphate of Abu Bakr: “... he also sent people to the house of the Commander of the Faithful (A.S.) when he refused to swear the oath of allegiance, setting it ablaze while the Head of the Women of Mankind was still inside it.”^[1]
