Is This Historical Confusion?
59. Al-Malti, the Shafi`i scholar who died in 377 A.H., may Allah have mercy on him, listing statements by Hisham ibn al-Hakim has said, “... Abu Bakr passed by Fatima (A.S.), so he kicked her in the stomach. She miscarried, and that was the cause of her sickness and subsequent death.”1 What is well known is that the one who kicked al-Zahra’ (A.S.) in the stomach was `Omer, not Abu Bakr.
