“I Discussed it with all Scholars”

Then you see how this individual says, “I discussed with all the scholars in Iran and elsewhere the issue of beating al-Zahra’ (A.S.) and other issues, but they did not convince me.”

We do not know how true this statement is for the following reasons:

1. We seriously doubt, emphatically, that such a thing ever happened. The scholars of Islamic Iran alone are counted by the tens of thousands; so, how could he have met with them all, let alone discussed anything with them?!

2. Why did neither I nor others, who are concerned about these issues and follow them, ever come to know about such “discussions” and never heard about them although I lived there for about thirty years?!

Rather, I found many senior scholars criticizing him for what he had said. A number of Shi`i religious authorities expressed their rejection, sometimes orally and some other times in written statements, of his views. This proves that he did not discuss with these scholars and authorities, nor did they discuss anything with him, nor did they hear his statements before.

3. We never knew what the result of such “discussions” was. Was he able to convince all the scholars in Iran and elsewhere, or where they able to convince him?! Or did each one of them maintain his viewpoint?! Or were some convinced and others were not?!

Had he convinced them all, this would have become public knowledge, and there would have been a huge fuss about this very serious matter regarding which there is a consensus throughout the centuries among Shi`i scholars.

But if all remained upholding their views, this by itself indicts the announcer who could not find even one single scholar to agree with his views, amassing proofs and evidences against him, offering them before all the scholars. And if some did, indeed, adopt his viewpoint, it would have surfaced. So, let him provide us with the names of those scholars each one of whom rightfully and deservedly bears the degree of ‘allama and whom he supposedly convinced to accept his viewpoint!

There remains one possibility, which may be the most plausible, and that is: He was the one whom they convinced, as he announced in some of his messages which he published and distributed. It is then that we have this question: “Why has he now retreated and returned to put forth a contrary view which he fervently and stubbornly defends?!
