Weep for Al-Zahra

By: Sister Mardhiya

Can someone spare me an eye;
with which I shed tears,
for the severity of this tragedy lies,
in Al-Zahra's broken ribs.
O lovers of her holiness,
ask me not of the power of the nail,
that pierced through my Mistress's chest.
Shall it suffice, to let you known;
of her instantantaneous miscarriage?
Weep O lover, weep for Zahra's loneliness!

All eyes are overflowing with tears,
save the eye of the accursed one,
who bruised Al-Zahra's radiant face,
by striking upon the Prophet's beloved,
an agonizing blow.
The hand that dared to strike Al-Zahra,
was indeed the very hand that seized the pen from Rasul'Allah.
Weep O lover, weep for Zahra's loneliness!

How can I narrate the sorrow,
that leaves the pillar's of Masjid Al-Nabi trembling?
How can not mourn for her oppression,
when I can hear the angels lamenting?
How may I befriend the hand,
that leveled Prophet's Kausar to the ground?
How may I bear to see,
the Prince-of-all-believers, expressing his grieviences to a water well?
Weep O lover, weep for Zahra's loneliness!

Bear witness O Allah,
the house upon entering which,
your angels seeked permission;
has now become a mourning place.
O Allah, the door that your Prophet kissed,
is now the ground for burnt ashes.
Weep O lover, weep for Zahra's loneliness!
