Oh Imam Hussain
As I close my eyes
The great tragedy of karbala unfolded
such hatred between tribes of
Bani Hashim and Bani Umayyiya

Oh Imam Hussain
Why did Bani Umayyia feel
he is the one to take the throne of leadership
whilst he is but an adopted son

Oh Imam Hussain
You never gave up for your right to defend Islam

Oh Imam Hussain
I can see your camp in karbala
On 2nd of muharram
Just near the river Euphrates
together with your beloved campanions

Oh Imam Hussain
As the hot intense desert heat had increased
On 7th of muharram Umar Saad, WHY?
Why did you order Bani Hashim camp to move away from the river?
Leaving the women and young children thirsty
With great courage and patience they strive to survive

Oh Imam Hussain
After the 9th of muharram
Umar Saad gave you a final warning to surrender
But you refused and recited the Quran much
& spent all the night in prayers

Oh Imam Hussain
Hurr was first to die with your permission
to go and face enemy, for truth and justice
handkerchief belonging to Fatima (A.s) you wrapped
round Hurrs’s bleeding forehead

One by one your companions went on the battlefield and ...
Fought bravely against Yazids’s enemy

Oh Imam Hussain
Your companions tried their best to not allow your blood
to spill in karbala

Oh Imam Hussain
How I can hear the battle drums of the enemies
getting louder and louder when Ali Akber went to battlefield…
& died with a fatal wound to his chest

Oh Imam Hussain
I can see the arrow sticking out his chest and..
And the blood gushing out
How proud you were of him for sacrificing his life for such noble cause

Oh Imam Hussain
Qasim a young fighter who was only 14yrs
fought like an experienced solider
was next in line.. till his body was torn to pieces

Soon Oh Hussain
With deep sadness all your family
Will be killed one by one
Only you and Abbas will be left alone…oh how I shed my tears……

Oh how Sakina cried of thirst
Abbas rushed to get her water
on the way back his arms were cut from sharp arrows
Oh Abbas you’re off your horse and on the floor with no arms
Your head and eyes flooded with blood..

Oh Hussain
Who is left to defend you NOW??

Site of Ali Asgher (6 months) baby crying of thirst. Covered with a robe..
Oh hussain you tried to beg for water to give him but enemies just had no mercy an arrow oh hussain went through young Ali’s neck your son died in your arms

Now it’s your turn to bid farewell, to the women and orphans
tonight please don’t go
Please don’t be in a hurry

Oh Imam Hussain
When your gone these women
Will be taken prisoners
Paraded in streets of Kufa and Shaam

Oh Imam Hussain
How you fought like a lion with rasool (s.aw) turban & robe
You are but the grandson of our great prophet!! Can’t they SEE???

Oh Imam Hussain,…Oh Hussain!
How you were showered with arrows you best likened death than to surrender

Angel Jibrael came down from heavens to tell you that indeed
Allah is pleased with your bravery to serve Islam

Oh Shimr!
The earth trembled when you beheaded Imam Hussain
Sky went red with rage
Sun went into eclipse
Whole earth was crying

Strong gust of wind blew......
