Where is Sakina?
By: Sahar Hussain
Visualize a cold cellar,
where the only luminance,
is the broken stream of sunlight,
crossing the narrow cleft in the wall.
Within sight;
is a little girl,
with her arms locked in chains,
embracing what seems like a bruised head.
She wants to cry,
but halts the instant,
she sees the blue lips of her father move.
She places her tiny hand gently on his lips,
sealing every wound on his face,
by laying upon it a kiss.
How can a father caress his darling,
to show his affection to her five year old,
when his body lays trampled by the horses?
Sakina, a second Umme Abiha,
for she reads her father a lullaby,
as she brings his head closer to her chest.
Father, she whispers;
I donot complain of my thirst, my swollen arms;
or of my torn ear lobes.
I simply wish to let you known,
that life without you is painful & sore. |
