IMAM HASAN (A-S) -
A Purified and Infallible vicegerent of
ALLAH (swt).
By:
Brother Ali Ja’afary.
INTRODUCTION:
As history
has often taught us, there are many lessons in life that come about
in important events. Some events live in the hearts and minds of
nations for century after century, and some very significant and
most important events will live in the hearts and minds of mankind
until Doomsday. Usually these kinds of events have either a very
intellectual, divine and spiritual essence to them, or they are of
inhumane atrocities and tragedies, that shocked the human race and
many of the most remembered events contain both.

The religion of
Islam is what the Prophet, may Allah bless him and his family,
propagated. For he (the Prophet): "Does not speak out of desire. It is
naught but revelation that is revealed." So the Prophet had the right to
nominate the Muslim successor for the succession. That is because the
succession is the high responsible authority for the lawful. Therefore
al-Hasan b. 'Ali was the legitimate successor whether the people pledged
allegiance to him or not.

Comparison Between the
Conditions of Imam Hasan (A.S.) and the Conditions of Imam Husayn (A.S.)
Many
people think that the Hashimite pride, which always resulted from
honorable attitudes, was more appropriate for the attitude of al Husayn,
peace be on him, than the attitude of al-Hasan, peace be on him.
This is a primary viewpoint that suffers from the paucity of an
innermost analysis and accuracy.
Al-Hasan was a Hashimite with high glory during all his attitudes. He
was similar to his father and his brother in glory. Thus they were all
an example to the original reformers in history. However, each one of
them had a special jihad (armed struggle), message, and attitudes which
he derived from the core of the conditions that surrounded him. These
conditions were early examples of jihad, glory, supporting the usurped
right to authority.

Now, we are discussing a
matter. We do not know exactly to what extent the matter was affected by
the previous conditions. Still it is enough for us to present some of
the social conditions which the Muslims knew for the first time after
the death of the Prophet. That is because the Prophet had a strong
effect on the selves, a strong power in forming society, and a powerful
hand in building the elements of the activity of beliefs.

Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the

of his father pledged allegiance to him in terms of fighting those he
fought and making peace with those with whom he made peace (peace be on

Short Maxims of Imam Hasan (A.S.)
1-
The people who consult for their affairs will surely be guided to the
right.
2- Meanness is to avoid thanking the grace.
3- Imam al-Hasan (A.S.) said to one of his sons: O son, do not befriend
anyone before you know his means and sources. When you try him and
please to associate with him, you should then befriend him on bases of
pardoning his faults and consoling him in misfortunes.
4- Do not fight the dim and like the fighting of the triumphant and do
not depend upon the destiny like the surrendering. To seek the graces is
a prophetic tradition and to seek moderately is a form of chastity.
However, neither chastity will stop the earnings nor will
acquisitiveness bring any surplus. The earnings are already divided and
acquisitiveness leads to sins.

required previous nations to fast for a longer period of time?" The
Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "When Adam ate of the forbidden fruit,
food remained in his stomach for thirty days; therefore, Allah enjoined
Adam's offspring to spend thirty days suffering from hunger and thirst,
and what they eat during this period of time [during the night] is due

A
Different Perspective
Amidst the chaos of the everyday life, certain phrases like Brotherhood,
Dignity, and Forbearance have lost their meaning. One might think those
phrases belonged to a previous age and to another period of time. The
age that a father would ask his son while he did not need to ask; and
the son would reply while he knew the father already knows the answer.
It was all so a time would come, when some exhausted souls like me, you,
and us, would ponder upon their dialog and break the barriers of
ambiguity to these strange words.

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF
IMAM HASAN BIN ALI - 1
By: Syed-Mohsin Naquvi
Imam
Hasan was the eldest son of Fatima Zahra, the daughter of the Prophet of
Islam, and Ali bin Abi Talib.
Imam
Hasan is the second Imam of the followers of Ahl al-Bayt, also known as
the Shi'a Imamiyya. He was born on the 15th of Ramadhan in the 3rd year
of Hijra. One of his wives, named J'udah binte Ash'ath, poisoned him on
Mu'awiyyah's instigation and bribery. He was martyred as a result of
that on the 28th day of Safar in the 49th/50th year of Hijra. Some
reports give the date of his martyrdom as the 7th of Safar.
But that, actually, is the birth anniversary of the seventh Imam, Moosa
al-Kazim, and the first date is more authentic.

Imam Hassan
(Pbuh)’s Imammate
After the martyrdom of Imam Ali (Pbuh), the people of Kufa City swore
allegiance to Imam Hassan (Pbuh) who had been governing as caliph for
about six months.
Unfortunately; in the time of
Imam Ali’s Imammate people turned out to be disobedient and
separated. They devoted a lot of energy to the civil wars and some
of the commanders and members of the army, joined Mo’avieh’s side
due to the deceits threats and promises. Therefore Imam Hassan (Pbuh)
found out if he wished to fight with Mo’avieh, he would be defeated
and all of Shi’ites would be killed. Hence; he was obliged to make
peace with Mo’avieh (which was the bitterest experience). Provided
that he would continue to be in succession to throne and he would be
the next caliph after Mo’avieh. And This would mean that Mo’avieh
would treat Imam Hassan (Pbuh) as the way the last Caliphs treated
Imam Ali (Pbuh). Mo’avieh accepted to be just a kaliph and not to
interfere with the religious affairs and he also promised to consult
with Imam as his advisor.

Leader of the Youth of
Paradise
The fragrance of paradise
could be felt in the air of Holy Medina this day in the year 3rd
AH. It was a day of rejoicing. The Almighty’s Last Messenger to mankind
had become grandfather for the first time with the birth of a radiant
boy to his daughter Hazrat Fatema az-Zahra (peace upon her). It was an
occasion to celebrate and the Prophet, joining the auspicious atmosphere
in his daughter’s house, asked his cousin and son-in-law Imam Ali ibn
Abi Taleb (AS) to hand him the newborn. In the right ear of the baby he
recited the azaan or the call to prayer and in the lef ear he
recited the Eqaama. He named him Hasan, which means the Most
Excellent. Imam Hasan grew into one of the most excellent persons of all
ages. His merits and God-given knowledge were evident from childhood.
One day the Prophet was sitting with his companions when his elder
grandson who was still a small boy came. The Prophet looked at him and
said: Hasan is the gift of God and will be among my successors. He will
make people know my status and enlighten them with my knowledge. May God
