PROPHET Muhammad (saww):
CELEBRATING EID
AL-MILAD
‘Eid’ means festival and
‘Al-Milad’, which originates from ‘Wiladah’ in Arabic, is in
reference to the birth of Prophet Muhammad (saww). There are a lot
of arguments going on about celebrating ‘Eid al-Milad’. Some Muslims
Scholars – particularly those of Wahhabi School of Thought have
condemn this openly and have declared it as ‘Bid’ah’ meaning
innovation; whereas others, who are in majority, and popularly
referred to as Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah insist that there is nothing
wrong in celebrating this great day. The Shia’hs believe and support
the celebration of Eid al-Milad too. Among
the objectives of celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (saww)

The message of Islam to mankind is that of peace. A major part of
Prophet Muhammad (saww)’s mission was to bring peace to the world.
One of the ways in which he (saww) strove towards this end was to

What They Say About

The following is
what Western Scholars have written about Prophet Muhammad (saww):
Lamartine,
Histoire de la Turquie, Paris 1854, Vol II, pp. 276-77:
"If greatness of
purpose, smallness of means, and astounding results are the three
criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in
modern history with Muhammad? The most famous men created arms, laws and
empires only. They founded, if anything at all, no more than material
powers which often crumbled away before their eyes. This man moved not
only armies, legislations, empires, peoples and dynasties, but millions
of men in one-third of the then inhabited world; and more than that, he
moved the altars, the gods, the religions, the ideas, the beliefs and
souls...

Passing Away of the holy Prophet
Explanation of the day of departure of
holy Prophet (p.b.u.h.)
Today his bright eye which a world got life through it had a poor sight
and it went to go out. The sun crawled behind the clouds slowly and
refrained from shining. The spring of life water went to became dry. The
precipitation of invisible divine inspiration went to stop. The angels
came down around his bed with tearful eyes. And this Allah’s friend, His
messenger, Mohammad-e- Mostafa (p.b.u.h) was asleep in bed. That
powerful body which tried to guide and lead people compassionately, and
put himself in danger that Allah sent him a message “Our friend, We did
not send you Quran to put yourself in difficulty” did not have any
strength.

Time of Expectation
and Hope
The prophets of
ancient times, especially Hazrat Musa and Hazrat `Isa (A.S.), had given
their followers news of the advent of Islam, even to the extent that
indications of the special attributes of the Prophet of Islam appeared
in their revealed books. For this reason, the Jews and the Christians
and the followers of other religions were watching out for the advent of
Islam, like people who see their ship with torn sails and broken anchor
in danger of sinking in the sea and therefore direct their gaze at the
shore of future safety.(See Ibn Hisham's Life of Muhammad, translated by
a. Guillaume (London,1955) pp.90-95.)

To extend consideration towards neighbors and send them presents are

Abraha had an idea, he built a beautiful temple in Yemen called Sancia.

thousands of birds, each bird had three stones. These birds threw the
stones on the army of Abraha. This incident was 50 days before the birth

From Marriage to Prophethood
The most
sensitive period of the life of a person begins when he (or she) comes
of age. It is so because at this time the sexual instincts attain
perfection, the sensual self inspires passions in one's head every
moment, the storm of lust darkens the atmosphere of human intellect,
the foundation of the rule of material instincts becomes more firm and
as a result of all this the lamp of wisdom becomes dim. During day and
night and time and again a grand palace of desires assumes a concrete
form before the eyes of the grown up person.

The
last chapter of the life of the Prophet of Islam, when he was
confined to bed, is one of the most delicate and subtle chapters of
the history of Islam. In those days the Muslims were passing through
very tragic moments. Open disobedience on the part of some
companions and their refusal to join the army of Usamah was an
evidence of a series of underground activities and the earnest
determination of the persons concerned that after the demise of the
Prophet they would take possession of the governmental and political
affairs of Islam, and would push back the person, who had been
formally appointed on the day of Ghadir as the successor to the

Meanwhile a strange scene was
being enacted at the Mosque. Shortly after the Prophet’s death, Omar
entered the apartment and raising the sheet that covered the body, gazed
earnestly on the Prophet’s features, which looked as of one peacefully
sleeping. Softly replacing the covering, he started up and exclaimed:
“The Prophet is not dead, he hath gone to his Lord as aforetime Moses
did and remained forty days absent. He will yet return among us again.”
Brandishing his sword he exclaimed, “I will cut off the head of him who
dares to say that the Prophet is dead.” He was haranguing the people in
a similar strain when Abubakr appeared. He listened to the words of Omar
for a moment and passed on to see the Prophet. He entered, and, lifting
the sheet that covered the body, stooped down and kissed the forehead.
Then taking the head upon his hands, he slightly lifted it ‘and minutely
scanned the features. Replacing the head gently on its pillow, he
exclaimed: “Yes! Sweet thou were in life and sweet thou art in death.
Alas, my Master! Thou art dead indeed.” Covering the body, he issued
forth and proceeded at once to the spot where Omar was brandishing his

Abubakr. But Omar would not listen to him. Turning therefore to the

LIST OF HAPPY INDIVIDUALS
WHO ATTAINED THE FELICITY OF RELIGION
AT THE BEGINING OF THE MISSION OF PROPHET- u.w.b.
The U'lama of the
nation agree that the first person the stature of whose ability became
honoured by the robe of religion was Khudyjah (peace be upon her); but a
number of pious men assert that Ali, (A.S.) was made happy by becomming
the first proselyte to the faith, and after him Zaid bin Hareth, the
freed slave of the prince of existence, was exalted by that gift, and
after that Abu Bakr (RAA) beleived the words of prophet-u.w.b. The
traditions now related may, however, also be adjusted as follows : The
first person who believed in the prophetship of the prince of righteous
was Khudyjah (peace be upon her), the first who confessed it was Ali (A.S.)
it was Ali the select-u.w.b. and the first who attached himself to his
lordship was Zaid Bin Hareth. The priority of these three in believing
the words of Ahmad (SAW), the chosen respectacle of the blessings of the
Almighty Sovereign, is made clear as follows Sidiq Abu Bakr was the
first man, Ali Murtaza (i.e the select) the first boy, and Zaid Bin
Hareth the first liberated, who had professed the religion; and as for
the priority of Khudyjah, it needs no explanation. The other followers
who pronounced Kalimat are in this sequence, U'thman Bin U'ffan, Zobeir
Bin Ala'wam, Tolhah Bin Abdullah, Sa'ad Bin Abu Woqas, and Abbdur Rehman
Bin A'uf.Rauzat-us-Safa vol.1.Part II - p150.

When Almighty Allah sent His last and greatest Prophet, Muhammad [s],
mankind was immersed in a state of degeneration. The messages of the
past prophets had been distorted and ignored, civilisation was on the

disbelief, oppression and corruption rife everywhere. The whole world
presented the gloomiest picture ever of human history. Hence, the

The
Advent of The Most Noble Messenger Prophet Muhammed (SAW)
By Mr A G Karim
coffee@euro-comm.co.uk
With eyes as bright
as the shining sun, a reality on the lips more brilliant than the light
of the sun, a heart more fresh than the flowers of the gardens of
Yathrib and Taif, habits and morals more decent than the moon- lit
nights of the Hijaz, a mind more brisk than the strong winds, a
bewitching tongue, a heart with heavenly light, firm determination like
a trenchant sword and heavenly words on the tongue - such was Muhammad
son of Abdullah, the prophet of Arabia, the prophet who destroyed the
idols which had separated brothers from brothers. He did not break only
the idols of wood and stone but also broke the idols of wealth, indecent
habits and party spirit.

Start of the Universal Mission
By: Seyyed Ali Shahbaz
"And we have not sent you but to all
mankind as a bearer of good news and as a warner, but most people do not
know." (Holy Qur'an 34:28)
Like a shaft of light, divine
revelation pierced the darkness of jahiliyya in the year 609 CE.
As Archangel Gabriel brought the first few verses of the Holy Qur'an on
the 27th of Rajab at Cave Hera on the outskirts of Mecca to the 40-year
old son of Abdullah, it was clear that faith had at last dawned on a
world steeped in ignorance.

Prophet
Muhammad's Emigration (Hijrat)
By Sorraya
Mahdian
The Holy
Qur'an says:
"... When
he said to his companion: Grieve not, surely Allah is with us. So, Allah
sent down His tranquillity upon him and strengthened him with hosts
which you did not see, and made lowest the word of those who
disbelieved; and the word of Allah, that is the highest; and Allah is
Mighty, Wise." (9:40)
Two months
after the death of Hazrat Khadija (SA) in the 10th year of the Prophet's
mission, the Prophet's (SAW) uncle and supporter, Abutalib, passed away.
The year was called "The Year of Grief". The Quraysh unbelievers
persecuted the Prophet relentlessly. In the season of pilgrimage to
Mecca, the Prophet (SAW) called various Arab tribes to Islam, but his
uncle, Abi Lahab, prevented them from responding.

Our holy prophet Hazrat
Muhammad Mustafa S.A.W , the last apostle and messenger of Allah was
sent to mankind as a mercy for this world and the Hereafter. Superior to
all 123.999 prophets and that is why He is titled as Fakhre Ambiya. If
we begin from the beginning we’ll be aware of His prophethood and we can

a prophet at the age of 40.

Finality of Prophethood
by Martyr
Ayatullah Murtada Mutahhari
We have said that despite the differences in details all Prophets have
delivered the same message and belonged to the same ideological school.
The principles and teachings of this school were explained to human
society gradually in proportion to its development till the humanity
reached the stage when the entire teachings in a comprehensive form were
presented. At this point Prophethood came to an end. The Holy Prophet,
Muhammad bin Abdullah (Peace be on him and his progeny) was the person
through whom the complete ideology was conveyed, and the Holy Qur'an was
the last celestial Book. The Holy Qur'an itself says: "In truth and
justice has been perfected the word of your Lord. None can change His
words." (Surah al-An'am, 6:115)

Epistemology of
Prophethood in Islam
Dr.
Jalal al-Haqq
Revelation as a medium of information about the content of reality has
not been particularly a subject of scholarly interest in Western
tradition of philosophy and philosophical theology. Medievalists talked
of `revelation' but they did not mean by it an epistemic activity in
which God `spoke' to a human person: it was rather for them a concrete
event in which God `entered' into a human body.

Beginning of the
Prophetic Mission
By
Sayyid Mujtaba Musavi Lari
Finally the appointed moment arrived, the moment which had been foretold
by previous Prophets (PBUH) to their followers. At the age of 40, the
orphan son of Abdullah attained the exalted station of messengerhood. It
was he alone at that time who had prepared for guiding the world with
his message for only this great and heavy responsibility could call for
such qualities and virtues as he possessed.

The World Before Islam
The chaotic situation of the world
prior to Islam is clearly reflected in the accurate mirror of history.
The outline of decline, oppression, bloodshed, idol-worship is evident
in this mirror. Before Islam, it was as if mankind were leaning over the
edge of the precipice of ruin and destruction, and there was the fear
that at any moment it could roll down and be annihilated in it.

This verse from the Holy Quran
indicates that Prophet Mohammad's (sas) attitude was a factor in
attracting people to Islam. Any leader who wants to summon people to God
should also be gentle and lenient in his personal attitude.

Ascension and Mab’ath of
Chief of Prophets (p)
By: Zaynab Abbas
Highlighting the significance of 27
Rajab, history recounts two very important events that took place on
this date. The first event was Mab’ath (Holy Prophet Muhammad’s, peace
be upon him and his progeny, official appointment to the Prophetic
Mission), while the second one is that of the Me'raj (The Night
Ascension).
Mab’ath (Holy Prophet Muhammad’s, peace
be upon him and his progeny, official appointment to the Prophetic
Mission) signals the turning point in the history of the world as the
Seal of Messengers with the final revelation was finally brought into
this material world.

A Glance at the Life of
the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.)
By:
Professor Muhsin Qara'ati
Among all the Prophets, the Holy Prophet is the only Prophet about whose
life even ordinary matters have been recorded in history and this is a
great accomplishment of the Muslim nation because the biographical
sketches of other Prophets have been written after a lapse of
considerable time with alterations and incorrect accounts by some of
their followers. However on the life and attributes of the Holy Prophets
many books were written in Arabic language some details of which have
been mentioned in our discussions on the signs of the Prophets. Thus it
seems pertinent to give a brief account of the conduct and character of
our Holy Prophet. It would be profitable for all the Muslims to know the
details of the Prophet's character, morals, and private life. Whatever
is written in the following pages has been derived from Biharul Anwar,
vol. XVI; Sirah-i Ibn Hisham, Kuhlul Basar, Tafsir al-Mizan, vol. VI and
other authentic books.

A Brief Account On The
Morals and Behavior of Rasul-Allah (SAWA)
BISMI-ALLAHI AL-RAHMANI AL-RAHIM
Of all the Anbiya 'Alayhimu-Salaam that Allah sent to different tribes
and nations, Rasulu-Allah (Sallallahu 'Alayhi wa Aalihi wa Sallam) was
sent to the whole mankind. Allah says He sent him as a mercy to the
whole universe. At another place, that (Mankind) will find in Rasulu-Allah
the "uswat al-Hasana", i.e. the best example (to follow).
Rasul-Allah's status, (i.e. darajat) therefore, was the flowering of
all Anbiya 'Alayhimu salaam that precede him. In this sense, a Sufi
poet by the name of Mahmud Shabistari explains in his book "Gulshan-i
Raz"
Nabuwwat ra zuhur az Adam Aamad
Kamaalash dar wujud khaatam Aamad
(The very first to appear in the
chainhood of Nabuwwat was Adam (and) Its perfection was in (Muhammmad
who was)'the Seal of all Prophets.

What They Say About Muhammad (PBUH)
During the centuries of the crusades, all sorts of slanders were
invented against the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). But withthe birth of the
modern age, marked with the religious tolerance and freedom of thought,
there has been a great change in theapproach of Western authors in their
delineation of his life and character. The views of some non-Muslim
scholars regarding Prophet Muhammad, given at the end, justify this
opinion.

ISLAM AND OTHER RELIGIONS
Islam is based on two realities: the blessed personality of the Prophet
Muhammad, who was chosen exactly fourteen lunar centuries ago to deliver
God's message and to be the leader of mankind; and the Quran, the Book
from God which is the Prophet's enduring miracle and which contains
God's words in the form of intellectual and practical teachings of a
universal nature. These two realities must be considered as one of the
most important factors in the development and perfection of human life,
or rather, they are the most important factor to have manifested itself
over the course of fourteen centuries in the faith and practice of
hundreds of millions of men, extending its influence deep into every

The Prophet, an 'Ummi'..
By Ali
Khalfan
One of the specific
challenges in the Qur’an to prove its miraculous nature is the position
of the recipient of the revelation, prophet Muhammad (peace be upon
him).
In one of the verses, Allah commands
the prophet to say to his people that before the revelation, he lived a
lifetime among them. During this time, he had not received any formal
education; nor did he write even a single line of poetry or read
anything. Muhammad was an orphan and a poor shepherd behind those
mountains where he was commissioned by Allah to spread the message of
Islam.
